I had Mango Lassi for the first time at an Indian restaurant in Türkiye. Later I learned that it is actually a very popular drink in Asian countries, notably India and Pakistan, where mangoes are grown in abundance, and people enjoy this refreshing drink to cool off on hot days.

Mango Lassi is a little thick, but smooth textured with a strong mango flavor that will please all mango lovers. When possible, use fresh, fully ripe, sweet mangoes because they are naturally rich in flavor. The recipe calls for plain yogurt and whole milk, but low or non-fat yogurt and milk can be used as well. Maple syrup, almond, oat or soy milk can also be used. Greek yogurt is not recommended in this recipe as it has a more sour flavor and much thicker consistency.

This drink tastes better when it is cold. We advise freezing the mangoes and chilling the yogurt and milk until they are really cold in advance.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups chopped mangoes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions:

  • Put all of the ingredients in a blender.
  • Puree on high speed until very smooth.
  • Add more milk or a couple of ice cubes at a time to adjust the consistency.
  • At this point more honey can be added to taste.

Serve immediately. If non-frozen mangos are used, chill before serving.

The leftovers can be stored in a refrigerator for a few days. You can also make popsicles.

Enjoy your refreshing, tasty and healthy drink.
